Our school grounds and buildings are attractive and well maintained. Improvements to the school's entranceway, office and gardens have very much been community driven with support and time being given by parents and members of the school’s community. We have a large grassed area with trees, adventure playground, tennis court and swimming pool. A well-stocked community on-site library supports literacy. The school is connected to the ultra-fast fibre network and is well resourced with up to date ICT equipment.
Ward School opened in 1906. It is located on the East Coast of the South Island between Blenheim and Kaikoura. We are a small rural school, which has the backing of a strong community. Ward School is a full primary school with a teaching principal and is currently organised into two multilevel classrooms with two permanent teachers. The school's community stretches along approximately 50km of State Highway 1 from south of Kekerengu to Lake Grassmere and covers areas inland of Ward and northeast to Cape Campbell. Our rural community consists mainly of farming and fishing base with emerging viticulture and tourism development in the area.
